The procurement phase of the Lidcombe club expansion and renovation project is drawing to a close in December. We are currently assessing tender submissions by three major builders and hope to be able to appoint a preferred contractor early in the new year. The completion of a competitive tender process will ensure the club secures the best value and should help to bring costs into line with the approved budget.
This heralds an exciting time in the club’s history as we are on the precipice of delivering a new member experience which will be second to none. This ambitious project will deliver new restaurants, bars, and café within the club as well as a 500-person capacity grand ballroom and associated functions areas. Members will benefit not only from an increased range of food and beverage choices, but a club better equipped to deliver a wide range of member activities and entertainment.
A huge amount of work has been done with construction experts this year to meticulously plan the construction sequencing, ensuring that the project is delivered as quickly as possible, whilst minimising impact on members and the local community.
In preparation for the main works, a range of enabling works have been completed in the club over the last 18 months. Those that you will be familiar with include the strip out of Lloyd’s Bistro on the ground floor and its relocation to level 1, introduction of Baileys Sports Bar, and the relocation of the children’s play area, the Kid’s Quarter, to the former John Meaney room.
Behind the scenes works throughout the year have also been completed including the re-routing of existing services infrastructure, temporary drainage catchments and extensive structural investigations carried out to facilitate the start of construction. These works allow the main construction phase to progress without limiting the range of facilities available to members and allow us to hit the ground running in the new year.
In 2024 further details of the construction sequencing and their impact on member facilities will be confirmed, in addition to some sneak previews of the tremendous new facilities we are working towards which we are excited to share.
Keep your eye on the club website during 2024 for key dates and information regarding the project, and even some sneak previews of what is in store for our members upon completion.
More information regarding the outcome of the tender phase will be available to members early in the new year via the website.
We do appreciate this project has been a long time in the making, and we thank members for their patience. Rest assured it will be worth the wait!
