We would like to thank our members for embracing the recent changes that have occurred within the Lidcombe venue. The relocation of Lloyds Bistro to the new Upper Quarter on level one has been a success, with the same great menu choices available in a stylish new restaurant located in the former Wattle Waratah function rooms. The Banksia rooms have also been re-purposed as Bistro seating, ensuring adequate capacity in peak periods.
The Children’s Play Area in The Upper Quarter was a roaring success with our younger patrons, and to a large extent has been a victim of its own success as the acoustic impact on diners in The Upper Quarter was just too great. However, in October the equipment will be moved into the John Meaney room creating a bigger and better dedicated children’s play zone for families to enjoy.
The demolition of the John St retail shops and the Three Lanterns bar is progressing well, and we thank the local community and businesses for their patience during what was quite a complicated exercise in such close proximity to the public footpath. The works were well handled by our principal contractor, ADCO Constructions, and the disruption was kept to an absolute minimum.
The detailed design of the main works is now largely complete, and we are working closely with ADCO Constructions and our cost planners, the WT Partnership, to finalise the scope of works and costs. We aim to start the excavation of the basement car park expansion in November, which will mean the existing basement car park will close. A staff parking zone has been created on the Club’s vacant land between Board and Ann St to ensure that parking provision is not reduced, despite the closure of the basement parking.
Looking ahead into 2023, the completion of the car park excavation will lead directly into the construction of the new structure needed to deliver what we believe will be the premier Club venue in the State in 2025.
Keep an eye on our website for further information about the project and if you have any questions or wish to report and issue, please speak directly to a member of staff who will be happy to help.
Once again thank you for your patience and support during what is an exciting phase of the Club’s history.
