Last year our Development Application was lodged with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment and then placed on public exhibition.
We received good and considered feedback from our Members, the local community, governments, agencies and other stakeholders. As a result, the Club has been working with our consultants, end users as well as the Department of Planning and Cumberland Council, to review and incorporate necessary changes. As part of these changes, the scale of the proposed leisure and tourism element of the development will be reduced, to reflect feedback received during the consultation process.
DOOLEYS is now considering a revised strategy to secure development approval and as such, the State Significant Development Application has been withdrawn until the design phase of the development cycle is complete, and a suitable planning strategy is finalised. This strategic flexibility is an important part of the development process and helps ensure that we achieve the best possible outcomes.
In the meantime, the Master planning continues, to ensure that we deliver a viable and sustainable scheme that meets the needs of the members and local community.
We will continue to work collaboratively with members, the community, stakeholders and the Department of Planning and Cumberland Council to develop the project and its timeline and remain committed to delivering a development project that will become an integral part of the new Lidcombe Town Centre.
Physical enabling works will continue on site throughout 2018 to make way for the landmark project to commence as soon as the necessary consents are secured.
